Rehoming Guidelines

Before completing an Adoption Application Form, please read the following guidelines carefully:

• We do not rehome to homes with children under 10 years of age.

• If you do not own your own property, we will need confirmation that your landlord has given permission for a dog.

• Any garden must be fully enclosed, secure and for the sole use of the applicant.

• Dogs should not be left home alone for long periods. We assess each application individually and ask that you provide details of your daily routine and working hours.

• Any resident dogs must be neutered/spayed and able to meet their potential new family member.

• Where possible, we will advise if a dog may be able to live with cats. Unfortunately, this is not something we can safely assess for every dog.

• We generally rehome within approximately 100 miles of our base in Rochdale, although we may consider applications slightly outside this area.

• Families will need to be able to visit to meet the dog and return for adoption if the match is successful.

The Rehoming Process

If you see a dog you would like to offer a home to, please complete our Adoption Application Form. This gives us some initial information about you, your home and the type of dog you are looking for.

Once we have received your enquiry, if successful, a member of our team will contact you to discuss your application in more detail and answer any questions you may have.

If everybody is happy after he initial chat stage and we feel a dog may be a suitable match, we will arrange a home check. This helps us ensure that your home and lifestyle are suitable for the dog's needs.

All members of the household will be invited to meet the dog, either at their foster home or boarding kennels. If you already have a dog, they will also need to attend so introductions can take place.

If everyone is happy and the match is successful, we will arrange an adoption date and your new family member can come home.

Our support doesn't end when a dog is adopted. We offer lifetime support and are always happy to help with advice and guidance whenever needed.
